Wire Fraud Warning

Wire fraud is a prevalent threat both locally and nationally. Scammers often impersonate Realtors or title company employees using fraudulent emails or phone calls. Be cautious of tactics like artificially generated voices and misleading caller IDs that appear to be from known contacts but are actually from malicious actors. Premier Title Agency and its affiliates adhere to rigorous best practices to protect consumers, but your vigilance is essential.

Follow these steps before wiring funds:

  1. Cashier’s Checks: Whenever possible, use a cashier’s check. Premier Title Agency has no limits on cashier’s checks for mortgage transactions, and a $50,000 limit for transactions involving cash buyers.
  2. Verify Sources: Accept wire instructions only from known senders via encrypted email or directly from your Realtor or Escrow Officer in person.
  3. Secure Contact Details: Obtain the title agency’s phone number from a trusted source, such as directly from your Realtor (not via electronically) or from a verified website.
  4. Confirm Instructions: Always call the trusted phone number to verbally confirm wire instructions.
  5. Stay Alert: Be suspicious of any calls or emails providing “updated” wire instructions. Confirm any changes through a trusted party involved in the transaction.

By following these guidelines, you can help safeguard your transactions against wire fraud.
